The ship you booked can’t fit under the Skyway.

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge caps air draft into Port Tampa Bay at about 180 feet, so the tallest ships physically cannot call at Tampa. Disney Cruise Line sails exclusively from Port Canaveral; Royal Caribbean’s Icon- and Oasis-class giants (Star of the Seas, Utopia of the Seas) and Carnival’s Mardi Gras all homeport at the Cape. If your cruise is one of these, Port Canaveral — roughly 2.5 hours east — is where you board, and a long-haul private transfer is the calm way to get there.

How far is Tampa from Port Canaveral, and how long does it take?
Port Canaveral is about 129–137 miles east of Tampa Bay — roughly a 2 hour 15 minute to 2 hour 45 minute drive via I-4 and the SR-528 Beachline, depending on Orlando traffic. From Tampa International it is closer to 2 hours 25 minutes. We build the pickup time around your boarding window so you arrive relaxed and on schedule.
Why would I sail from Port Canaveral instead of Tampa?
Because the ship you want may not fit under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Disney Cruise Line sails only from Port Canaveral, and the largest Royal Caribbean ships (Star of the Seas, Utopia of the Seas) and Carnival Mardi Gras are all too tall for Port Tampa Bay. If you booked Disney or a mega-ship, Canaveral is your port — and this is your ride.
Is private car service better than a shared shuttle or Uber for this route?
For a 2.5-hour cruise transfer, yes. A shared shuttle makes multiple stops and runs on its schedule; Uber is roughly $200 each way with near-guaranteed surge on sailing days and no guaranteed pickup. Can you pick us up from a Tampa hotel or the airport?
