Tortuga's suites pull families on week-long stays, and the airport arrival that follows is usually two adults, two or three children, checked bags, beach equipment and often a pushchair. A sedan will not take it.
We assign from the bag count you give us rather than the head count, and fit child seats when you tell us the ages at booking. Both are small things that decide whether the first hour of a holiday is calm or spent rearranging a boot in a car park.

A week here does not need a hire car, but it does have two or three days that want one: the Ringling estate in Sarasota, the aquarium and riverwalk in Bradenton, or a longer run to Tampa if the flights were cheaper that way.
Those are point-to-point bookings with an agreed collection, and on an island with limited parking at both ends they are usually pleasanter than driving. If the day runs long, move the collection.
The art museum, Ca' d'Zan and the circus museum sit together north of downtown Sarasota — roughly 45 minutes south, and the best half-day within reach of this island.
