Quieter sand, and Turtle Beach further down.
Crescent Beach has the same quartz sand as the public beach with a fraction of the crowd, and Point of Rocks at its southern end is the best snorkelling on the key. Further south again, Turtle Beach is quieter still.
All of it is walkable or a short trolley ride. The car is for the airport, the Village on an evening out, and the mainland — and for a party this size, the airport legs are the ones worth planning carefully.
The southern end of the island: darker, coarser sand, a boat ramp and far fewer people. A short run from Crescent Beach and a genuinely different day.
