The car handles the ends of the trip and the mainland — downtown Sarasota, the Ringling, St. Armands. All are 20 to 30 minutes over a bridge, and all are easier arrived at than parked at.
Ringling's shopping circle sits on the next key north, roughly 25 to 30 minutes away. Its parking in season is the reason to be dropped there.
