How to Read This

Three ways to reach a tee, one right answer per resort.

Every transfer decision comes down to chauffeur, rideshare or rental — and the right pick changes with the resort. A chauffeur means door-to-door with clubs handled and a guaranteed return; rideshare is cheapest for a solo close-in arrival but thins out for pickups; a rental gives an independent car but a designated driver after the round. The comparison below gives each of the eight resorts its nearest airport, real drive time, rideshare reality and best vehicle so you can match the mode to the venue.

  • Chauffeur — door-to-door, clubs handled, return guaranteed
  • Rideshare — fine for solo close-in arrival, weak on pickup
  • Rental — independence, but you drive after the round
  • Each resort below is scored on all four factors
Remote Destination Resorts

Streamsong & Cabot — where a chauffeur is required.

These two are the reason this comparison exists. Both are long, rural drives with no dependable return rideshare, and Cabot has no on-site rentals — so ground transport must be arranged before you fly. A GMC Yukon SUV is the comfortable vehicle for the haul — we simply add more Yukons and sedans to the dispatch for a larger group — and private jets can shorten it via Lakeland Linder (LAL) for Streamsong or Brooksville (BKV) for Cabot.

  • Streamsong — nearest TPA ~90 min (MCO ~90, SRQ ~1h27); rideshare none; best vehicle SUV
  • Cabot Citrus Farms — nearest TPA ~50–90 min (MCO ~90, PIE ~75); rideshare unreliable, no rentals; best vehicle SUV
  • Both: pre-book — no car waiting for the return leg
  • Private jet: LAL for Streamsong, BKV for Cabot
Close-In Tampa Clubs

Innisbrook, Saddlebrook & TPC — the easy runs.

The northern Tampa trio is the simplest to reach and the most rideshare-friendly for arrival. TPC Tampa Bay is the closest major venue to the airport anywhere in the region. A sedan handles a solo or couple; step up to an SUV once you add a foursome and bags, or for an early tee time when rideshare is scarce.

  • Innisbrook — nearest PIE ~30–40 min (TPA ~35–45); rideshare workable; best vehicle sedan or SUV
  • Saddlebrook — nearest TPA ~30–35 min (Wesley Chapel); rideshare workable; best vehicle sedan or SUV
  • TPC Tampa Bay — nearest TPA ~25–30 min (Lutz); rideshare workable; best vehicle sedan
  • Groups and early tees still favor a booked chauffeur
Sarasota-Side Clubs

Concession, Lakewood National & Longboat Key — go from SRQ.

The southern cluster all points at Sarasota–Bradenton (SRQ) rather than Tampa. The Concession and Lakewood National sit minutes apart in Lakewood Ranch — a natural two-club base — while Longboat Key Club pairs golf with the barrier-island resort. The Concession is gated, so arrivals there should be pre-arranged rather than left to a rideshare rank.

  • The Concession — nearest SRQ ~25–35 min (TPA ~55–70); gated, pre-arrange; best vehicle SUV
  • Lakewood National — nearest SRQ ~25–35 min; rideshare workable; best vehicle sedan or SUV
  • Longboat Key Club — nearest SRQ ~30–40 min; rideshare workable; best vehicle sedan or SUV
  • Concession + Lakewood National pair as one Lakewood Ranch base
The Verdict

Match the vehicle to the trip.

Distilled: book a chauffeured SUV for Streamsong and Cabot every time — coordinating a second or third Yukon and sedan when the group is larger; use rideshare or a sedan for a solo close-in arrival at TPC, Saddlebrook, Innisbrook, Lakewood National or Longboat Key; and step up to an SUV whenever there is a foursome, clubs, an early tee, a gated venue like The Concession, or a group that wants to travel together. When in doubt on the remote and Sarasota-side clubs, the chauffeur is the low-risk choice.

  • Streamsong / Cabot — chauffeured GMC Yukon SUV, always
  • Solo close-in — sedan or rideshare is fine
  • Foursome with clubs — GMC Yukon SUV
  • Buddy group / multi-course — coordinated multi-vehicle fleet

FAQ

Golf Resort Transfers Comparison — FAQ

Which Tampa golf resort is closest to an airport?
TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz is the closest of all, just 25 to 30 minutes from Tampa International (TPA). Innisbrook is 30 to 40 minutes from St. Pete–Clearwater (PIE), Saddlebrook is 30 to 35 from TPA, and on the Sarasota side both Lakewood National (25 to 35) and The Concession (25 to 35) are close to Sarasota–Bradenton (SRQ). The remote destination resorts — Streamsong and Cabot — are the farthest, at roughly 90 and 50 to 90 minutes respectively.
Which resorts can you not reach by rideshare?
Streamsong and Cabot Citrus Farms are the problem cases. Both sit in rural counties where rideshare is unreliable and, critically, will not be waiting for your return trip; Cabot also has no on-site rental cars. The close-in and Sarasota-side clubs — Innisbrook, Saddlebrook, TPC, The Concession, Longboat Key and Lakewood National — have workable rideshare for arrival, though pickup back from the gated and remote ones still thins out.
What vehicle is best for a golf transfer?
It depends on party size and clubs. A Mercedes-Benz sedan suits a solo traveler or couple on a close-in run. A GMC Yukon SUV is the workhorse for a foursome with bags. For a full buddy group headed to the destination resorts, we coordinate several Yukons and sedans dispatched together so everyone and every club bag still moves as one party. For the long remote hauls to Streamsong and Cabot, the SUV is the comfortable choice; for a quick TPC or Saddlebrook hop, a sedan is plenty.
Chauffeur, rideshare or rental — which should I pick?
For Streamsong and Cabot, a chauffeur is effectively required: no dependable return rideshare, and no rentals at Cabot. For the close-in clubs, rideshare covers a solo arrival, but a chauffeur wins for groups, early tee times and the club-to-dinner legs. A rental only makes sense if you want an independent car all stay and do not mind driving after the round. The comparison below lays out each resort so you can decide fast.
Which airport should I fly into for a Tampa golf trip?
Tampa International (TPA) is the best all-round gateway for Streamsong, Cabot, Innisbrook, Saddlebrook and TPC. Sarasota–Bradenton (SRQ) is the right pick for the Lakewood Ranch and Longboat Key clubs — The Concession, Lakewood National and Longboat Key Club. Orlando (MCO) is an alternate for Streamsong and Cabot, and St. Pete–Clearwater (PIE) is closest to Innisbrook. We meet all four plus the FBOs.
