Sand Key Park at the door; everything else over a bridge.
Sand Key Park is directly across the road and the beach is wide and calm — which is the reason to stay here rather than on the busy strip. It does mean that the aquarium, Pier 60, downtown Dunedin and both airports are all on the other side of at least one bridge.
Those trips are worth booking rather than driving. Parking at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in season, or on Clearwater Beach on a Saturday, is its own small ordeal.
North on the mainland, Dunedin is a good dinner town and Honeymoon Island a genuinely quiet beach. Both are straightforward runs and both are easier without a car to park.
