Why Go

St. Pete Beach is a barrier-island beach city in its own right — Gulf-front hotels and condos along Gulf Boulevard, a walkable downtown corridor of restaurants and beach bars, and public beach access without one single concentrated tourist strip. It has a different personality than Clearwater: more spread out, less built around one central event.

What to Expect

A good choice for passengers who want beach time paired with food and drinks without turning the day into a sightseeing itinerary. The historic Don CeSar — a pink 1928 resort hotel — is the area's best-known visual landmark along Gulf Boulevard, though it's a private property rather than a public attraction.

MAX Insider Tip — Upham Beach at the north end and the Pass-a-Grille district at the south end offer two genuinely different experiences within the same beach city — worth knowing before you pick a spot.
