Le Méridien occupies the old United States Post Office and Courthouse on North Florida Avenue, a Beaux-Arts building that reopened as a hotel after a restoration that kept the marble corridors and turned holding areas into guest space. It sits in the middle of the civic and legal quarter — federal and county courthouses, the firms that work them, and the Hillsborough River a few blocks west.
That location is excellent for walking and awkward for driving. Florida Avenue is one-way, the block gets court traffic all morning, and the loading kerb is short.
