Route Overview
The basic route follows US-41 (Tamiami Trail) with I-75 as the faster alternative. US-41 is the scenic, city-to-city route; I-75 is the high-speed bypass. For road tripping, the coastal route is preferable.
- Tampa to Sarasota: 65 miles, 65-80 min via I-75 or US-41
- Sarasota to Venice: 20 miles, 25-35 min
- Venice to Fort Myers: 80 miles, 85-100 min
- Fort Myers to Naples: 35 miles, 40-50 min
- Total Tampa to Naples: ~200 miles, ~4 hours driving (plus stops)
Day 1: Tampa to Sarasota
Spend time in Sarasota — the Ringling Museum, St. Armands Circle, and Siesta Key Beach.
- Morning: Drive from Tampa, arrive Sarasota by 10 AM
- Late morning: Ringling Museum (3-4 hours)
- Afternoon: St. Armands Circle lunch, drive to Siesta Key
- Evening: Siesta Key sunset, dinner at Ophelia's on the Bay
- Stay: Sarasota or Siesta Key
Day 2: Venice & Anna Maria Island
- Morning: Drive to Venice, hunt for shark teeth on Caspersen Beach
